A patient’s name and date of birth are needed to create medical records, which is a legal requirement, and these will be held indefinitely. (In some circumstances, patients may use an alias.) All patient details and records are kept securely and in the strictest of confidence by SameDayDoctor and are accessible only to our DBS-vetted staff.
We share information only with other medical service providers involved directly in a patient’s care, such as the laboratory or imaging centre doing their tests or specialists to whom they have requested a referral. We use phone, fax, and email to communicate with these other service providers as securely as possible, but we are unable to accept responsibility for breaches of external communication routes beyond our control.
We will not share a person’s information with anyone else, including their private GP, unless they permit us to do so. The only exceptions are when a patient is considered to be a danger to themselves or others or when required to do so by a court order.
Any contact details a patient provides are optional and will only be used to contact them about their medical care and to send their results. (No marketing). Personal details and notes are kept securely, and patients have the right to complain to the ICO if they think there is a problem with the handling of their data. Patients have a right to access the data we hold.
