For many years, private medicine in the UK was confined to non-urgent hospital-based care, which was funded and supported by the private medical insurance companies to which members subscribed.
We recognised that this left many people unable to access rapid and expert care for private GP services. Furthermore, many of the private medical services were difficult to access and were not available out of hours, at weekends, or on bank holidays.
SameDayDoctor has always felt quite strongly that its mission is to make excellent private doctor medical care available at an affordable price to people with and without medical insurance. Patients are often pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to access private medical services and how much we can help them with a wide variety of issues and organise investigations and referrals without incurring exorbitant costs.
SameDayDoctor has pioneered providing an open-access medical service seven days a week, including all bank holidays except Christmas Day. Patients can walk in during our opening hours or call or email to make an appointment, and experienced clinicians will see them in a relaxed setting.
We also like to reassure patients that, although we are outside of the NHS, we comply with the highest standards, as documented by our very good CQC inspection reports. Our staff have annual appraisals (usually by NHS doctors) and are committed to the GMC revalidation programmes. We are a GMC-designated body with a full-time responsible officer, and all our staff must undergo rigorous recruitment screening, including DBS checks. They are also obliged to continue ongoing training programs for items such as CPR and life-support, anaphylaxis training, and child and vulnerable adult safeguarding.
