Vaccinations to consider when travelling to Southern Africa either on business or a family holiday:

Botswana

The following  vaccines are available for people visiting Botswana.

  • Hepatitis A, caused through oral consumption of food or drink, where levels of sanitation and hygiene are low.
  • Hepatitis B, spread person to person through blood products such as an infected needle or medical instrument
  • Rabies Virus, spread through the saliva of an infected animal, through biting or scraping against an open wound.
  • Tetanus, bacterial contamination in open cuts and sores. Bacteria is usually found in soil, manure and dust (although bites and scratches can also cause infection)
  • Typhoid, spread through the contamination of water and food, made worse if there is poor access to clean water and standard rate of hygiene and sanitation

Madagascar

The following  vaccines are available for people visiting Madagascar.
